Chemring Group PLC (“Chemring” or “the Group”) is pleased to announce the opening of its new office in the United Arab Emirates (“UAE”).
The Middle East and North Africa is a region of long-standing strategic importance to Chemring, and the Group’s activity in the region has grown significantly in recent years. Chemring has achieved notable commercial successes within the region with sales of products from across its three business segments – Countermeasures, Sensors & Electronics, and Energetic Systems.
The Group has secured a number of contracts in the United Arab Emirates and recognises that, in order to maintain and build upon these achievements, a permanent in-country presence is an essential element of customer service and commitment.
Nigel Howard, who joined the Group in June 2016 from Ultra Electronics, has been appointed as the Group’s Regional Business Development Director and will operate from the new UAE office.
Michael Flowers, Group Chief Executive of Chemring, commented:
“The opening of this new office is a sign of Chemring’s ongoing commitment to both the United Arab Emirates and the wider region. Having worked in the region for 12 years, Nigel Howard’ significant experience will be of great benefit to our regional customers and global businesses, offering a single point of contact for all of Chemring’s products and services.”
Philip Parham, British Ambassador to the UAE added:
“I am delighted to see another cutting edge British company strengthening its presence in the UAE. The UAE is one of the UK’s most important commercial partners - indeed, its fourth biggest export market outside Europe. Some 5,000 British companies are active here. These partnerships benefit from the deep historic ties between the UK and UAE, but also from the breadth and creativity of their modern relationship, and the range of their common interests.”
