Chemring Countermeasures UK (CCM UK) is pleased to announce the signing of a Strategic Partnering Arrangement (SPA) with the Royal Air Force (RAF), Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) and the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL), to ensure long-term provision of optimum air platform protection, including the exploitation of current capabilities and the development of new technology. This 10-year SPA will improve UK MoD’s operational capability & continuity of supply, and competitiveness in the marketplace for CCM UK.
CCM UK provides a wide range of countermeasure decoys in the air and naval domains which are used extensively by the UK’s armed forces, to counter threats posed by a variety of guided missiles, and routinely collaborates with UK MoD to improve the level of protection achieved. This SPA will provide a framework for development, allowing CCM to provide the best solutions for protection of all UK fast jet, transport and helicopter platforms fitted with self-defence systems. As with other Electronic Warfare (EW) related technology fields, the countermeasures sector must keep pace with the ever-evolving missile capabilities, anticipating where and how threat systems can be countered. This SPA will aid information sharing to facilitate a collaborative approach and encouraging co-operation such that the right level of capability is available to the front line at the right time.
Alongside providing UK MoD with the highest level of air platform protection to counter threats, this SPA will underpin the development of the next generation of countermeasures. Where appropriate, it will also allow CCM to make such decoy technology available to a wide range of allies and partner nations, increasing survivability of aircraft and aircrew.
