Today is Earth Day, an opportunity to reflect on the progress we’ve made across Chemring and the work still ahead. We remain committed to reducing our environmental impact, investing in sustainable technologies, and supporting global efforts to combat climate change.
We are proud to share some of the progress we’ve made in reducing our environmental impact and advancing our long-term sustainability goals.
Lowering our carbon footprint
In 2025, we delivered a 10.6% reduction in market-based scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions, continuing our year on year progress toward net zero.
This improvement reflects:
• Upgraded equipment and facilities
• Increased renewable electricity procurement
• Enhanced emissions tracking and reporting
Expanding renewable energy use
We now source 82.4% of our electricity from renewable sources, including nearly full renewable coverage in our facilities in the UK and Australia.
Improving waste management
Our strengthened waste monitoring systems have improved accuracy and transparency across all Chemring sites. For 2025, only 13% of our waste was sent to landfill or incineration, down from 14% on the previous year.
We also advanced several initiatives that support circularity, including:
• Eliminating onsite burning of specialised waste
• Improving recycling segregation
• Developing new chemical recycling capabilities
Strengthening water stewardship
We have significantly reduced water consumption across our operations. Total water use has fallen from 1.28 million m³ in 2019 to under 990,000 m³ in 2025, driven by leak reduction, process optimisation, and increased water reuse.
Earth Day is a reminder that sustainability is a collective effort. Thank you to everyone across Chemring who is helping us reduce emissions, conserve resources, and embed environmental responsibility into everything we do.
