CCM 216 Mk1 Type 1 is an 'advanced' chaff distraction round that deploys a single 'high' performance Radar Cross Section (RCS) chaff payload and features selectable range and cloud height. The payload used is of the centre-burst type, that takes advantage of multipath to enhance RCS and offers a repeatable burst height independent of the ship's roll. CCM 216 features selectable ranges out to approximately 2Km and height settings. These are controlled by manual switch settings made immediately prior to loading. The device also offers a capability for protection of ships in company.
