A CHAFF CARTRIDGE FOR MULTIPLE PLATFORMS
The RR170 Chaff Cartridge forms part of a defensive aids system to protect the host aircraft from passive radar guided missile threats by providing a suitable alternative and preferred target or 'decoy'. The purpose of the decoy is to ensure that the passive radar guided missile passes the target aircraft by an effective miss distance.
The Chemring Countermeasures Cartridge is a direct fit, form and function replacement for those of USA origin. The chaff cuts of the CH39/79 are optimised to provide a broad-band radar return signal but the radar cross section profile can be manipulated by incorporating differing chaff cuts to meet the demands of specific end user requirements. The Cartridge Chaff RR170 is fully compatible with all dispensing systems utilising magazines configured for 1" x 1" payloads including AN/ALE 40, 45 and 47 series, M130, Matra/Alkan, Terma, MES, Rokar and Thales example.
