CENTURION shortlisted for Award

The collaboration between Chemring Countermeasures and Roke Manor Research in the development of the CENTURION launcher system was recently shortlisted for a prestigious award by the media publication the ENGINEER. The close collaboration between the two companies included work to design a launcher cover that significantly reduced radar cross section and the writing of the system’s operational software.

The Technology and Innovation Award recognises engineering achievement and CENTURION was selected for its inventive and unique design features. The vertical stowage of up to 12 advanced 130mm countermeasures and the ability to accurately point each barrel in bearing and elevation makes CENTURION a world beating system. The positional accuracy it delivers enables munitions to be deployed in specific patterns that better replicate a ship’s signature. This significantly increases the probability of advanced missiles being successfully decoyed away from their intended target.

Recognising the collaboration needed to ensure the success of the product in line with the design intent led to Chemring Countermeasures’ CENTURION system being shortlisted for the award.
